Purely tonal audiometry or The PTA is the main hearing test utilized to establish a person's hearing threshold levels. PTA also employs bone and air conduction audiometry. It makes determining the kind, severity, and pattern of hearing loss easier. PTA is performed on adults and children who are old enough to engage in the testing method, even though it depends on patient's response to pure tone stimuli. PTA only assesses behavioral or threshold hearing levels. PTA is advantageous for several hearing tests, including click auditory brainstem response. To deliver ear- and location-specific thresholds and responses, PTA uses frequency-specific pure tones.
